ANERT, Kerala
Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT, Kerala) is the State Nodal Agency (SNA) of the central Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), functioning under the Department of Power, Government of Kerala with focussed programmes for the development and popularisation of Renewable Energy as well as promoting and carrying out Demand Side Management of Energy in the State of Kerala.
ANERT had made significant strides in the development of renewable energy sources of the State during the past years, marked by the outstanding achievements like popularisation of more than 8 lakhs of improved firewood chulhas, installation of solar water heating systems with a total capacity amounting to more than 3 lakhs litres per day, electrification of about 20000 remote houses with Solar Photo Voltaic technology etc. ANERT is coordinating the studies and technical verification for establishing Wind Farms for electricity generation in the State.
ANERT is designated as the Implementing agency of the Total Energy Security Mission (TESM), the Flagship project of Government of Kerala for the 11th Five Year Plan period. The Mission programme targets to achieve cent percent household electrification as well as effective fulfilment of other essential energy needs of the society. As part of this project ANERT is undertaking baseline energy studies, projects for decentralised energy generation and demand side energy management jointly with Local Self Government Institution.
